![]() ![]() Dr. Alexis Mia Harrington (nee Lexi Marsden) never really thought she would amount to anything interesting. She was was the middle child with an older sister and younger brother, parents who had a happy functional marriage, they had a modest house in a pretty neighbourhood with a dog called Fluffy. About the only thing missing from the picture-perfect scenario was a white picket fence... thei picket fence was sky blue. Her dad, Mark, was a Music Producer who worked for a big record label until he hit retirement age and decided to semi-retire, build his own music studio and help young indi artists chase their dreams. Her mom, Jactina, was a dancer from the tender age of 3 years old. She studied ballet at Joffrey and went on to Juilliard after high school. After a successful career as a Principal for her ballet troupe so she travelled a lot to perform until she, too, semi-retired and opened her own dance studio above her husband's recording studio. Mr Marsden had the more hands-on role raising the kids so his wife could dance. All three kids were always close to their parents, and to each other. Alexis' younger brother, Chance, would grow up to be a high-up Chief Medical Officer in Formula 1 Racing, a career-focused guy who never quite reached a point where he wanted to settle down and have a family of his own. Her big sister, Matilda, came out as a lesbian when she was sixteen and never wanted kids of her own. She married her high school sweetheart, Gem, and manages a lucrative resort in Miami. Although Alexis doesn't see her siblings near enough as she wants to, she loves them dearly and is in touch with both of them every day. Alexis would be the one to follow in her parents' musical footsteps. She started to play the violin as a young child and learned the harp in high school. She aced her grades and became the class Valedictorian. Like her mom, she was offered a place at Columbia University where she began to study a Bachelor of Arts and joined the Columbia Orchestra. Things were going relatively well but she struggled with peer pressure once she hit college, being a bit of a shy and timid at the time and went to parties just to feel like she belonged. Parties meant drinking... a lot. But she managed to keep up with her studies and enjoyed the start of her Freshman year. However, everything changed when she discovered she was pregnant the February after she started college and was too far along by the time she found out to have a termination. Panicked and not knowing how to handle anything, Alexis dropped out of college and moved back home to her parents in New Hampshire, where she planned to give the baby up for adoption because she wasn't ready to give up her dreams of being in a symphony orchestra and studying music. She planned to have the baby and pick college back up where she left off. It wasn't until some years later that Alexis realised who the father of her baby was, being unable to isolate what drunken party it happened or remember who she hooked up with. Being a lightweight really didn't go in her favour at all. Her baby daddy turned out to be Mark Campbell. He was a gorgeous blonde-haired, blue-eyed, tanned, Aussie surfer studying Pre-Law and Alexis had a huge crush on him from the moment she laid eyes on him in the library one day. He was a Junior at the time and not only popular, but had a reputation as a flirty manwhore, albeit a kind and funny one. To this day, Alexis never knew how she got the courage to ask him on a date to a Halloween party but when she did, he easily flirted back and she fell even harder for his smile and Aussie sense of humour. They had one date and Mark was fun, but at some point, Alexis got really drunk and never remembered most of the night. Inevitably, they both became intoxicated and slept together without protection. Alexis wishes she remembered it. Alexis' life took an awful turn the day her baby son was born. She was so sure she would go through with the adoption, though her resolve wavered in the final few weeks of her pregnancy and she began to doubt whether she wanted to give the baby away, even if she wanted him or her to have the best life filled with unconditional love. During the pregnancy, after she dropped out of college, a girl she met at a college party, Katrina, contacted her and offered to take the baby when it was born because she really wanted to be a mother. It was strange and Alexis politely declined, not really engaging with Katrina again after the fact. After Alexis gave birth, she saw her baby son for only a minute or two before the staff whisked him away to give him a little oxygen as he bad been distress in-utero and she was two steps away from a C-section. She never got to touch him or hold him before she had a massive internal hemorrhage and fell into a coma where she spent three weeks in the ICU. When she regained consciousness, the first people to visit her were two police officers who told her that her infant son had been stolen from the hospital on the evening he was born, apparently kidnapped from the nursery by an unknown person. It was the worst time of Alexis and her family's lives. The police investigation into the suspected kidnapping led to nothing. Her parents and siblings had been treated as suspects, not just for kidnapping, but suspected murder. Ultimately, none of the investigations turned up anything and the case went cold. The only way Alexis could cope with the trauma of losing her child was throwing herself back into her studies. She worked hard and ultimately scored a place at Juilliard studying music and would go on to be a part of the New York Philharmonic-Symphony Orchestra and achieve a Doctor of Music and her PhD in Musical Composition. Studying distracted her from the trauma driving her crazy and losing her mind trying to find what seemed to have vanished into thin air. Her work led her to Professor teaching music at Yale University and she moved to Stamford, Connecticut. Alexis was briefly married to a fellow musician, however, the marriage fell apart when he wanted children and Alexis had never been able to face the idea of having anymore babies after what happened to her son. She gave up on relationships also after that, finding the thought of explaining the ordeal all over again to someone just too hard to face. It was only after Alexis and her parents went to New York and saw Footloose on Broadway, all thoroughly awed and impressed by the young breakout star in the lead role of Ren McCormack, Justin Campbell. His performance, singing, and dancing talent was incredible and inevitably, Alexis Googled him after they saw the show to read a little more about him and how his star had risen. She found an article which named one Mark Campbell, Esq. as his father and Geneviève Hart, the joint CEO of FABULOUS magazine, as his adoptive mother. As soon as Alexis saw the picture of Justin and Mark together, and discovered Justin's date of birth was the date her infant son was born, it hit Alexis that there might be a very real chance he was her biological son. It still took Alexis many months to pluck up the courage to go to see Mark with her suspicions. She leaned on many excuses during that time, but it was all just a fear of losing hope. She never really stopped looking for her son but when places to look ran out, not being ever able to trace what happened to him, hope dwindled until she read that article about Justin. Finally, she did go to see Mark at his law firm one day but she could never have anticipated how much that day would change her life, especially when the DNA results confirmed Justin was, indeed, her long-lost baby boy.
